About GLIMPSES Workshops

‘I hope that my GLIMPSES workshops will open people’s eyes, change attitudes and inspire others to experience the difference’

GLIMPSES Workshops for Therapists are specifically designed to meet the training and development needs of trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, counselling tutors and supervisors. Delivered in an informal, relaxed and student-centred way these experiential, interactive and awareness raising modules are suitable both for the novice trainee therapist who is just setting out on a journey of self-discovery and for the more experienced practitioner, who will be able to integrate new learning and self-awareness into their everyday life and work.

GLIMPSES are stimulating and thought-provoking workshops which are different to many other disability awareness courses in that each workshop aims to offer a unique personal insight into the challenges and opportunities of living, studying and working with sight loss and training to be a professional counsellor when you have a disability.

‘Giving a voice to real people to talk about real life experiences’
  • Are you a person with diverse life experiences?
  • Are you a professional feeling passionate about your work?
  • Are you a group or organisation making a difference to people’s lives?

Martin Meets is my voluntary project which I launched in February 2016 with the aim of giving real people the platform to share real life stories, discuss topics of public interest and promote essential work with people, groups and the community.

My idea to set up this project arose from my therapeutic work with clients over the last ten years. As a qualified and experienced counsellor, I have become increasingly aware that many of the clients I work with often feel rejected or excluded in some way by society.

From my own life experiences I have also realized that certain social issues which may affect us all at some time in our lives, such as depression, disability and mental health, often get overlooked, deserve more attention and should be talked about more openly in public.

There are three main ways in which you can get involved in Martin Meets:

  • Volunteer to take part in short audio recorded person-centred discussions.
  • Attend one of my free motivational talks held at various locations.
  • Join in with my live monthly Tweet Chat using the hashtag #MartinMeets
