Course - Online Mindfulness for Stress (MfS) for stress, anxiety, mental unrest and overthinking

Happiness is a skill. This is what the ancient practice of mindfulness teaches, and what modern psychology research has shown. The wonderful thing is that this skill, just like driving or dancing, can be learned, and it can stay with you for a lifetime.

This eight-week online course, taught by an experienced Breathworks mindfulness teacher in a supportive and friendly group setting, will teach you how to boost your happiness and wellbeing, find new sources of resilience, joy and calm in your life, and to cope with stress, anxiety, fear and depression.

You will learn the foundational skills of mindfulness, compassion and meditation, and how to apply them in a way that really makes a difference.

“I was really impressed by how it started with what I felt were some great relaxation techniques that helped me to slow down, and notice how slowing down can be enriching, and then gradually built on this with a range of different meditations, approaches and lessons to promote acceptance and understand ways to improve balance in life.”

“The way Martin delivered the course was extremely well put together and he gave good opportunities for us to ask questions and to explore the ideas further. I thought Martin used very practical examples such as the cups of water which was very helpful.”

“Martin is an effective communicator. As a blind person, his explanations were accessible to me. The meditations he led were excellent.”

“I liked how Martin delivered the course. There was lots of variety in each session using a mixture of guided practice, teaching using PowerPoint, visual experiments, small group discussions and whole group discussions. Martin ensured that everyone in the group felt included and got an opportunity to be heard and validated.”

About the course

“There is a saying in Tibet: ‘If you take care of the minutes, the years will take care of themselves’. What’s the most important minute in life? I think it’s the next one. There is nothing we can do about the past, and we have limited influence over the hours and days to come. But the next minute – minute after minute after minute – is always full of possibility”

Rick Hanson

Step 2 – Make payment (either deposit or in full)

Once you have submitted the course booking form it’s time to make payment. Please note that your place on the course will not be reserved until payment has been received in part or in full. You can either pay a deposit (half the course fee) or pay the full fee upfront. If you choose to pay a 50% deposit the rest of the fee is required no later than two weeks before the start of the course.

Whether you pay a deposit or the full fee you can cancel up to 14 days prior to the start of the course and receive a full refund. After this time you cannot normally claim a refund and while I will make every effort to accommodate you at another event should you wish to transfer this cannot be guaranteed.

I aim to enable as many people as possible to have access to all of my mindfulness courses, events, webinars and retreats and to make the training I provide as affordable as possible to people of all backgrounds and circumstances. However I am self-employed and I need to generate sufficient income to enable me to continue offering high quality events. Therefore my payments and concessions policy is to ask individuals to pay the standard course fee if you are able to do so. If you are able to pay the full standard fee (individuals) or organisational fee (businesses) this then helps me to be able to offer concession prices to those who cannot otherwise afford to attend.

My two concessionary rates (reduced fee and subsidized), shown in the list below, are based on a policy of trusting people, so I choose to trust that people will only claim one of these concessionary rates if they are genuinely eligible for that and are living on a low income. You may, for example, choose to book onto a mindfulness course at the reduced or subsidised rate if you are in receipt of a universal benefit (such as Universal Credit, Disability Living Allowance or PIP), if your sole income is a state pension or if you are a full-time student. If there are other reasons why you feel you might struggle to pay the course fees I encourage you to contact me to discuss further. In exceptional circumstances it may be possible to arrange an individual payment plan to give you equal opportunity to participate on a course.

My four fee categories are as follows:

  • Standard Fee: £220
  • Reduced Fee: £150
  • Subsidised Fee: £80

Step 3 – Pre-course Discussion

Prior to the start of the course we will arrange to have an informal conversation about the course, your expectations of the training and any additional requirements you have which you may have specified on your booking form and in any initial discussions with me. Depending on your circumstances, needs and time of booking, this pre-course discussion may involve just one or a couple of meetings or conversations and may take place face-to-face, online or over the phone. Having this time to ask questions, discuss your individual requirements and making sure you have everything you need for the training, will hopefully enable you to feel safe and supported at all stages and get the most out of your participation on the course.
